Vacation 2013

It's finally time for me to recap some fun stuff from our trip to Pennsylvania.  We always manage to do so much while we are there.  It's especially great to take advantage of their weather in the summer.  It's warm there, but it's too hot to play outside here.

Anyway, we did have quite a few rainy days.  Here's Grandpa playing legos with Rhett.  They built a pyramid after going to a special library program about pyramids.



On the same day, I took Rhett to the movies in town.  It is about a 1.5 mile trip from my parent's house with about 1/2 of it on a relatively steep mountain/hill.  Somehow I convinced Rhett to walk back after sitting through the movie.  After awhile he started saying in very roundabout ways that he wasn't sure walking back home (which was uphill) was the best idea.  But, he made it, and I got some exercise in.

Of course they had to set up the kiddie pool.  Not sure why Rhett needed goggles.  This just looks so funny to me because he is just about as big as the pool.  And, of course, Emma just likes to pose!





We made our trip to DelGrosso's which is an amusement park, but also has a little waterpark.  We didn't have the best weather.  The first day we went, we got rained out after 2 hours.  The next time was only about 70 degrees, so the water stuff was extremely cold.  But, we did the water stuff quickly and didn't get any pictures.  As always, my kids LOVE the rides!  We could have probably done DelGrosso's every day.

We went to the Slinky Park which is pretty much like a Chuck E Cheese.  This was one of Rhett's highlights because he got to do Laser Tag.  It was pretty funny because it was just Rhett and my dad in the Laser Tag, and then Rhett needed me in there to direct him and tell him what to do (where to go to charge up and whatnot).  Well, that meant that I had to drag Emma around with me.  So, it was not the kind of Laser Tag that any of us are used to, but it was absolutely perfect for a 5 year old's first time.  Not only did he love the Laser Tag, but he won a big "ticket" prize in the games.  They had one of those claw-grabber games, and you try to pick up packages of tickets.  Anyway, as you can see from the picture, Rhett snagged a pack of 100.  It's a pretty good thing because I did the math, and Emma would have had more tickets than him, and that would have resulted in drama!



And, we also happened upon a little local circus.  We found out about it only an hour before we had to be there but decided it was worth checking out.  I am including the picture of the tent just to show how small this circus was.  My parents and I were really worried when we pulled up and saw how small it was, and then we had to wait an hour in the mud and heat before it started.  So, the kids enjoyed a pony ride (okay, well Rhett enjoyed the ponies, Emma wanted down after about 10 seconds, but who could blame her, pony rides are lame after you've just ridden a camel!), and a camel ride.  The circus was nothing spectacular, but the kids sure thought it was.  Emma has never sat through anything in her life, and every time an act was over she would ask me if there would be another one.  She did not want it to end!  She still talks about the mermaid girl and the puppy!









Thankfully, we were gone when this little devil was discovered in our house.  But, our friend was nice enough to send us a picture to show us what she found under our kitchen table.  I was not happy, but I was relieved that I was not the one to find it.
