For his birthday party, he wanted a roller skating party. It was great to have the play to ourselves (without it being full of big kids), and Emma really surprised me and insisted on skating almost the whole time as well. Of course, we couldn't resist an opportunity to do a basketball-themed party! I told Rhett that we probably need to switch to small group sleepover parties in the future. He had a great time celebrating with his friends!

Rhett turned 8 (over a month ago)!
Time just keeps flying by. I now have an 8 year-old who no longer legally is required to ride in a car seat. At 8 years old, Rhett is still all sports all the time. He's actually home sick today (why I actually have time to work on this), and watching The Sandlot. We are finishing up basketball season. His team has played really well together this year, and they are currently undefeated with only two games to go. He's played point guard again this year and seems to be averaging about 10 points a game. Basketball has consistently been Rhett's favorite sport, so we are already getting a little sad that it is coming to an end. But, Little League has already started practicing, and he is on the Boston Red Socks. He's really hoping to play catcher and pitcher again this year, but I've talked to him about how important it is to play whichever position the team needs :) We are working hard on our sportsmanship skills these days.
