Big Dog Little Dog...wish I had a picture

Last night Rhett surprised me by showing me his blanket very neatly folded. Apparently, someone has taught him to match his corners perfectly. Literally, I was shocked. This blanket was PERFECTLY folded, and he is only 3 years old. I quickly told him that he can start helping me with the laundry now :)

Anyway, shortly after that, he told us to close our eyes for a surprise. He took two blankets and laid them perfectly flat on the floor. Then, he put a pillow at the top of each one. Shaun ran over to see if he could lay on the bigger of these two "beds." But, Rhett wanted that one. So, Shaun explained that he wanted the bigger one because he is bigger. Rhett exclaimed in complete understanding "oh, like Big Dog Little Dog." Of course we developed the conversation a little further such as saying Daddy is Fred and Rhett is Ted and so forth. If you haven't read this book, then you probably can't really appreciate this, but we got a good laugh.

Emma, who just crawls around anywhere she dang well pleases, was quick to intrude on the boys' Big Dog Little Dog party. To which Rhett said "Come on Daddy, she can get us in here. Let's go in the living room." It's just so funny because Rhett's always on the move just to get away from his curious sister!

When Rhett isn't around to fascinate her, Emma usually makes a break for the toy room. She loves exploring all the different baskets filled with toys. It's making her a little more independent, but she's also taken quite a few tumbles. It's so much fun watching her explore new toys and learning her methods of communication. She has started singing recently which I must capture on video soon!

Rhett seems to have developed a nasty case of bronchitis in addition to his allergic reaction (which seems to be triggered by a potential flea bite and is getting better). Lucky Rhett will be on an extended course of breathing treatments and yet another round of antibiotics. I really hope this is the solution because Shaun and I are starting to pack for our trip, and it will break our hearts to leave our boy with this nasty cough. And, while we know he is in the most loving of hands, it's just really tough to be away! That being said, we are so excited to have a vacation to look forward to...just four more days!
