Big Bro Rhett and Little Sis Emma: Grandmas Rule

We were so lucky to have Grandma visit us for the long holiday weekend. The kids were slightly under the weather (apparently with the beginning symptoms of ear infections that have gone crazy this week), but they had so much fun. Because we had the extra set of hands, I think we did almost every single fun activity around town. We went to the Splash Park, Tug Boat Island, Doornbos pool, the frozen yogurt shop, and the movies. We were also finally able to coordinate getting Rhett's bigger bike. Grandma got to take both kids on a grocery trip after Emma insisted on going along with them. We went to a nice dinner at Pappdeaux's where Rhett told the waiter he did not want shrimp, and then insisted on finishing his shrimp once the food arrived. And, probably, the most excitement came from the never-ending stream of projects (or art projects), most of which were modeled after ideas in this really neat Cars book that Grandma brought for Rhett.

There was plenty of drama as well. Rhett has decided to assert himself around the house in every way possible, so it seemed like a constant battle of the wills between him and I. And, he even threatened to remove my shower door prop exclaiming "I am going to move this thing (the door prop) so that you will get mildew and never be able to take a shower." I thought that was a rather clever threat that he came up with...obviously I talked to him about why I use that prop previously so he already knew a little about mold/mildew. Also, while we were at the movies, someone decided to hit my new car in the parking lot and not leave a note. So frustrating because the car is not even a year old, but slightly relieved to find out that I had uninsured driver insurance, and I've already gotten the car fixed up.

We had so much fun and wish she could hang out with us every weekend!

Happy to be spending time with Grandma...
