Doctors, doctors, and more doctors

On Monday, I felt like the time had come to get Emma into the ENT for all the ear infections. So, Jenelle and I loaded up the kids and headed to Pearland (2 hour drive near Houston) so that we can see my ENT-friend Shauna. I scheduled Rhett an appointment too because he seemed to be saying "what?" all the time like he couldn't hear what we were saying.

Anyway, they did hearing tests first. Rhett passed with flying colors, but he had a lot of negative pressure in his ears (clear fluid and air bubbles that feel similar to getting off an airplane). This is likely the result of his sickness from a couple of weeks ago, and should be treatable with medicine. Shauna said that Emma, on the other hand, is "trying to listen." Her ears are filled with infected, thick fluid (they described it as the consistency of glue, and that even when not infected, won't drain properly). So, she will be getting tubes in her ears in about a week and a half.

Then, today, Rhett had his appointment with the pediatric cardiologist. At his three year check up, the pediatrician heard a slight murmur that needed to get checked. He does have a murmur, but it doesn't appear to be abnormal. He should grow out of it, and they will check it again in 2 years. Here he is getting his EKG:



I tried teaching Rhett about strangers this morning. I don't think he really understood the concept because when we were done talking about it, he was talking about "Space Rangers." Thanks Toy Story and Buzz Lightyear for assisting in the stranger vs. Space Ranger confusion.
