Heritage Festival

The big festival is in Nederland. It's basically a carnival that runs from this past Tuesday through Sunday. Grammy and Poppy hooked up Rhett with a "badge" complete with his picture. This badge entitles him to unlimited rides for the entire festival. When all is said and done, I think he will have gone three times which probably also means devouring three corn dogs (his appetite has skyrocketed lately).

He is really excited about the rides. He told me his favorite ride was the carousel.



Shaun told me that the big boy behind him on the motorcycles kept him laughing the whole time.



I couldn't resist posting this picture even though it's really tough to make out (you can see his hat just above the windshield next to the tall kid with his head turned around). There was a ride that was a bus with about 6 rows of seats. It went up in the air in a vertical circle (similar to a ferris wheel, but just the one bus circled around). Anyhow, it said 30" and up don't need a parent. Rhett's about 37", so we figured he could handle it. First, he was trying to get himself into the only row that had no other kids which would have been very unsafe. Eventually the worker went up the stairs picked him up and deposited him right in the middle of the big kids. You would think he would have been intimidated by those big kids, but he wasn't although he did sit rather expressionless throughout the ride. It was just so funny to see him squished in between kids twice his size :)
